Another Great trip to Italy!!!
Let me begin by saying this trip would not have been possible without the efforts of Sensei Lonnie Guinee. She worked relentlessly to make this all happen, and it happened in a big way. On the other side of the ocean we have to thank Maestro Gamba and his team of Black Belts for a great day of collaboration and serious training. Our lifeline to the Tora Dojo is Terry Stone 1st Dan who has made all of our communications possible and has provided us with tremendous assistance over the past few years. All of the Tora Dojo members make us feel right at home. Sensei Marco Buschini who is a leader and someone who has been a part of our lives for many years now. Sensei Buschini and I have worked together in seminars and with his SIKM organization and continue to do work on some up and coming programs that will prove to be very beneficial and rewarding for all. Also Laura, Marco’s wife who works constantly to help me with translation and making sure we are comfortable in their home. Sensei Lonnie does a great job with Italian as well. Lastly, I have to thank the Black Belts who made this voyage to Italy. They represented themselves as just who they are. They are a group of individuals who work hard to make our Dojo what it is today and who are not afraid of hard work to accomplish their goals. I think I can speak for all of our members and thank Sensei Lonnie Guinee again for her leadership and expertise in making what was a wonderful trip possible and also did most of all the photo shooting for our slide shows! Brava!!!
Our trip started with Black Belts and families from America going to Italy for training and a vacation. Our first stop was Venice airport where we were met by a Tora Dojo member named Sensei Andrea Rampin. Sensei Andrea Rampin was unbelievable in that he provided transportation at every stop we made, “Literally”. Our trip would not had been the same were it not for his guidance and his crew of drivers. We are very grateful for his kindness and generosity.
We started by staying at The Hotel Europa in Padova which was a very nice. We took a day trip to Venice by train and it was a terrific day with food shopping and lots of sight seeing. I will have more about our family trip but first want to enter some slide shows for all to see. CLICK ONFAMILY!
The following day takes us to the Tora Dojo. Training in Maestro Gamba’s Tora Dojo (Italy) was an unforgettable day with one session in the morning with Black belts and under belts combined. The afternoon session was with Brown and Black Belts. Maestro Gamba began the day with his lesson on Stick defense followed by Sensei Lyman of USA with Fighting methodology with Sensei Marco Buschini (Italy) teaching Gun Defense simultaneously with two separate groups. Sensei Buschini also taught defense against a kicking attack while on the ground. Sensei Dayton Guinee taught a method in which to get off the ground while fighting an attacker standing above. We had a lunch break and dinner with those who could in the evening. CLICK ON TORA DOJO
Please enjoy the slide shows.
The information and slide shows for the benefit for wounded or injured police officers will follow.
That benefit was put on by Marco Buschini and his SIKM federation along with Sensei Dayton Guinee and Gianni Bianchin. A short presentation for IDSS preceded the training.140 participants came to this event. This was a great example of what a positive and encouraging group can do. I want to commend Marco for organizing what turned out to be a extremely active and exciting day.CLICK ON SIKM!
